Kate Beckinsale has chimed in on the viral meme of her making out with boyfriend Pete Davidson at a New York Rangers game as Queer Eye’s Antoni Porowski sits nearby.
Photos of the couple engaging in some serious lip-locking at Madison Square Garden last Sunday, March 3, quickly went viral, because 1) it confirmed the dating rumors and 2) Porowski’s relatable and awkward reaction as he stalwartly ignored the PDA.

Antoni being highly uncomfortable by Pete Davidson and Kate Beckinsale is a legitimate mood pic.twitter.com/J55Xb8Jkcl— kristin (@KHeydt13) March 4, 2019

In fact, Twitter projected their own third-wheeling awkwardness on Antoni to such an extent, that he took to his own social medias to basically declare that it’s all good.
Love this pic where’d you find it, guys?! https://t.co/kPFcCgzcW9— Antoni Porowski (@antoni) March 5, 2019
Kate has finally responded to the meme, and a particularly problematic version of it that labels Pete as a man “with problems from childhood who I can ‘fix’” and Antoni as “wholesome guys with good paying jobs who text back and have no baggage,” implying that Kate is trying to “fix” Pete, and furthermore that Pete is “broken.”
“repeat after me: u are not bob the builder. u can’t fix him, periodt,” reads the caption on Instagram account @dietbroke_.
Beckinsale replied with a witty comment, writing, “Antoni is gay, if that helps clarify at all #queereye.”
Many of the comments bashing Kate for “not understanding memes” or “being a cougar that’ll end up alone” only serve to highlight the true nastiness of the meme and of society’s treatment of and behavior towards “older” women. Whether the meme was made with an innocent intention in mind or not, it perpetuates stigma against mental health—which has enough stigma surrounding it already, thank you very much.
In conclusion, we stan a queen and Pete Davidson doesn’t have “problems” that anyone should try or think about fixing—he has a mental illness that should be treated by mental health professionals. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
